O Lord, we gather as unclean people. Our motives are not always pure. Our desires are not always appropriate. Our lives are not always ordered. Our actions are not always constructive. Remind us that we have been baptized; that you have created us, called us by name, taken us by the hand, and blessed us as your beloved children. Through the presence of your Holy Spirit, free us from all that is past, and empower us for all that awaits us in the future; through Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen.
